Harry Potter Daniel Radcliffe Admits to Alcohol Issues!

It looks like ‘Harry Potter’ himself has admitted that he too was not strong enough to resist the temptation of alcohol in his teenage years. Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the famous character created by J.K. Rowling, has come clean regarding his past alcohol issues.
In a feature from the Daily Mail, Radcliffe, now 22, confessed his addiction to alcohol in the latest GQ UK interview. The British actor claims he was so “reliant” on alcohol while filming the Harry Potter series during his teenage years. “I became so reliant on alcohol to enjoy stuff. There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me.”
The actor, who starred in the blockbuster movie franchise since he was 11, acknowledged he was lucky enough during the times that he was so hooked on booze as there hasn’t been so many captured moments from the paparazzi that would have revealed his dark side.

With the scheduled release of the last ‘Harry Potter’ installment on July 15, Radcliffe tells the mag that he has been sober since August of 2010. He has slowed down on his life immensely saying he’d rather sit at home and be with his girlfriend than go to parties and have a couple of drinks which he isn’t skillful enough to handle.
The star also knows how to handle his massive fortune (48 million pounds) that he gained as Harry Potter. He has this realization to share to other celebrities. “The main thing about having money is it means you don’t have to worry about it. And that for me is a lovely thing. It’s not for fast cars and hookers.”
Daniel is slated to appear next on the Broadway production of ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’ and other projects after bidding goodbye to his famous character.

Daniel Radcliffe to Play Allen Ginsberg

Daniel Radcliffe, famous for his portrayal of wizard Harry Potter, will be taking on another literary icon next year--only this time, its a real person: beat poet and counterculture hero Allen Ginsberg.
He'll be portraying the poet in the upcoming movie Kill Your Darlings. The part was originally rumored to be going to The Social Network start Jesse Eisenberg. Chris Evans, who recently played Captain America, was also originally said to be appearing in the movie as writer Jack Kerouac. It's not known if he is still slated for the role, according to the UK Press Association.
Radcliffe is currently starring on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He will be succeeded in January by Glee crooner Darren Criss.
The English actor is keeping busy in other ways too. He recently told MTV News that he's working on writing an arthouse film that no one wants to see.
I am trying to write a script which is fun and frustrating and terrible at the moment but hopefully will be good at some point, Radcliffe said.
He also has another film coming out soon, a horror movie called The Woman in Black.

In the News: Daniel Radcliffe Discusses Booze, Harry Potter, and Why He’s Sober

Getting sober is truly something magical, and in the past Daniel Radcliffe, who played the lead legendary wizard in the world famous Harry Potter film series, has confessed he for a time was using alcohol to help him cope with fame and personal misfortunes, but now claims to be completely content in his sobriety. The 24-year-old actors trouble with alcohol began when he was filming theHarry Potter franchise because he was having an extremely difficult time trying to adapt with his new celebrity status, the pressure of his fan base, and the young actor also came face to face with problems concerning his memory, the increasing alcohol abuse, and grieving a lost companion during the filming of the Harry Potter series which elevated his status in film.
Acting with Alcoholism
The Life and Career of Daniel Radcliffe is a tell-all set to be released in July of 2014 written by Randy Jernigan where the author spoke to several of Radcliffe’s closest friends and co-workers to build a back-ground for the book. What the author soon learned was that Daniel Radcliffe had been diagnosed with a devastating developmental coordination disorder that put a great deal of strain on his career and personal life. This particular disorder is described as a neurological disorder that afflicts the memory and body movements, and because Radcliffe’s occupation encompasses the need to memorize lines of dialog and onset performances it is reasonable that this news had such a harsh effect on the actor who has in his early teens at the time.
To deal with the complications of this new diagnosis and the anxiety that came with it Daniel Radcliffe began to abuse alcohol regularly. Still only a teen, he began sneaking drinks at his parents’ house. Progressively he became dependent on the alcohol physically and mentally. Radcliffe moved out of his parent’s home at 17 years old due to the events and quickly became something like a shut in. His alcohol abuse had escalated to where he preferred to drink alone at home after filming, and he has even admitted to showing up tofilming for Harry Potter intoxicated. He even stated,
“It was not making me as happy as I wanted it to,” and went on to say, “It is not a real pressure but it is a pressure of living with the thought, ‘Oh, what if all these people are saying I am not going to have a career? What if they are all going to be right and will be laughing and I will be consigned to a bunch of ‘Where are they now?’ lists?”
Radcliffe’s Recovery
Radcliffe realized that he had a problem and was able to halt the alcohol abuse during the end of the Harry Potter movies franchise, but again in 2012 the actor began drinking after his performance in The Cripple of Inishmaan had taken a toll on him, and he found himself relying on alcohol. Then in March of 2013 tragedy struck Daniels life, when his close friend Richard Griffiths died. Radcliffe considered Griffiths his best friend and was very overwhelmed by the event. Afterward Radcliffe was back to making progress in getting control of his life, and was sober.
In an interview Radcliffe said he has not had a drop of alcohol since 2010, even though Jernigan said in his book that the actor did drink eventually in 2013. The actor does confirm that he became very dependent on drinking whiskey because he was not well adjusted or suited for the lifestyle of the famous.
Throughout the shooting of the Harry Potter series, Daniel Radcliffe suffered deeply on an emotional, mental, and personal level. From struggling with the development of a neurological disorder, to the loss of a best friend, and chronic relapses into alcoholism, Daniel Radcliffe had his fair share of secrets from the media and the fans. Thankfully he says he has gotten the control of his life back, and prefers the quiet life, reading books instead of binging on booze. He gives much credit of his current happiness to the process of the Harry Potterprojects, because it created a career path for him, and also says he would not be happy without the impact of those films on his life. He says he know he would have benefitted from not drinking. Hopefully with the evolution of his career he will remain in that mind state, and enjoy the magic of sobriety.

Daniel Radcliffe Fails As A Receptionist In Hidden-Camera Prank

Someone tell Daniel Radcliffe not to quit his day job.
The 25-year-old "Harry Potter" star was put to work as a receptionist at the offices of Nylon magazine in New York as part of a hidden-camera prank.
And it seems like his office skills need a little work.
"I received no phone calls during that hour, which was strange," an anonymous Nylon staffer wrote in the video description on YouTube. "And a package that was supposedly delivered to the office for me never made it to my desk."
He was also stumped when someone asked him for stamps.
"I'm not sure if I can help you out right now," he said, after looking around the desk. "You might want to come back when someone more experienced is working here."
Many seemed to know they were dealing with the film and stage star, and went along with it. But a few people genuinely seemed unaware, and some walked by without so much as a glance.
He even got a visit from another celebrity -- who wasn't exactly impressed by his work.
